I see this all the time: a business that claimed their Google Business Profile but never did anything with it. No photos. No posts. No reviews. Just a name, address, and phone number gathering dust.
An empty GBP doesn’t just fail to help you — it actively hurts you.
Why an Empty Profile Is Bad
When someone searches for your business and finds an empty GBP, they make assumptions:
- You’re not active
- You don’t care about your online presence
- You might not even be in business anymore
Your competitor with a full, active GBP gets the call instead.
How to Fix It in 30 Minutes
Here’s what I do for clients:
Add photos. At least 10. Your logo, your storefront, your team, your products. Photos make your profile look alive.
Write a description. Tell people what you do and why they should choose you. Include your key services and your location.
Add your hours. Nothing frustrates customers more than showing up to a closed business.
Post updates. Treat your GBP like a social media feed. Share offers, events, new products, behind-the-scenes content.
Collect reviews. Ask happy customers to leave a review. Respond to every review you get.
The Result
I’ve seen businesses go from zero to 10+ enquiries per month just by fixing their Google Business Profile. It’s the fastest, cheapest way to get more local customers.
