WordPress vs. Wix: Which Is Better for Small Businesses?

WordPress vs. Wix: Which Is Better for Small Businesses?

I get asked this question all the time. Here’s my honest answer:

Wix: Easy to Start, Hard to Grow

Wix is great if you want a website up in an afternoon. It’s drag-and-drop, no coding, and everything is included. But that simplicity comes with trade-offs.

Wix sites are harder to optimise for SEO. They load slower than WordPress sites. And if you ever want to move platforms, you can’t export your content easily — you’re locked in.

For a very basic site that you’ll never want to expand? Wix works.

WordPress: More Work Upfront, Better Long-Term

WordPress powers over 40% of all websites on the internet. It’s flexible, scalable, and you own everything — your content, your design, your data.

It has a steeper learning curve. But for a business that plans to grow, WordPress is the right foundation.

Which One Should You Choose?

Here’s my rule:

  • Need a simple one-page site that will never change? Wix is fine.
  • Planning to grow, add content, rank on Google, and own your online presence? Choose WordPress.

What I Use for Clients

I build every client site on WordPress. It gives you control, flexibility, and room to grow. Plus, I handle all the setup so you don’t have to learn anything.
